Yalchiksky District

Yalchiksky District (Russian: Яльчикский райо́н; Chuvash: Елчĕк районĕ) is an administrative and municipal district (raion), one of the twenty-one in the Chuvash Republic, Russia. It is located in the southeastern portion of the republic and borders with the Republic of Tatarstan in the north, south, and east, Komsomolsky District in the west, and Batyrevsky District in the southwest. Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Yalchiki. District's population: 20,453 (2010 Census preliminary results);[1] 25,033 (2002 Census);[2] 28,549 (1989 Census);[3] 35,200 (1979 Census). Population of Yalchiki accounts for 10.9% of the district's population.[2]

97% of the population are Chuvash.

The district was formed on September 5, 1927.

The Head of the District Administration is Nikolay Petrovich Millin.
